The case involving alleged drug kingpin, Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala has been postponed to 13 May, as legal disputes between the State and defence continue to delay progress.
The State has requested that Matlala remain in custody at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre until his next court appearance.
Matlala is among five accused facing a combined 25 charges, including money laundering and multiple counts of attempted murder.
During the previous court session, proceedings were adjourned to give prosecutors additional time to respond to outstanding submissions from the defence. However, tensions remain, with the State still considering new representations related to one of the accused.
Defence teams argue that key documents have yet to be fully disclosed, hindering preparations and delaying the matter from moving to a pre-trial hearing stage.
The case continues to draw public attention as both sides prepare for what is expected to be a complex and closely watched trial.
