Musician and television personality Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye has been granted R5,000 bail following an urgent application at the Johannesburg High Court after his arrest on 14 June 2026.
Maarohanye was arrested in connection with an alleged kidnapping and shooting incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, Gauteng. The incident reportedly took place around 07:30 when the driver was confronted by the suspect, who accused him of having a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.
According to allegations, the suspect forced the driver into his vehicle and later discharged a firearm in his direction. The driver managed to escape unharmed and subsequently reported the matter to police, which led to an investigation and arrest.
Maarohanye is facing charges of kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and defeating the ends of justice.
The case has been postponed to 22 June 2026, while investigations continue and further legal proceedings are expected.
