The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) will officially announce the results of the 2026 Local Government Elections on Sunday, 8 November 2026, following a three-day voting process in which more than 13 million people cast their ballots.
Special voting took place over two days, on Monday and Tuesday, allowing registered voters who were unable to visit voting stations on Election Day to cast their ballots.
Voting stations were then opened to the general public on Wednesday, 4 November, when millions of South Africans headed to the polls to elect their municipal representatives.
With voting now concluded, the IEC is continuing with the counting, capturing and verification of ballots ahead of the official results announcement.
The Commission has encouraged voters and members of the public to follow emerging results through its official online Results Portal as the counting process continues.
