Alleged political fixer, Brown Mogotsi, is expected to apply for bail based on new information presented before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court as he faces multiple serious criminal charges.
Mogotsi was arrested on 15 May 2026 shortly after testifying before the Madlanga Commission. He faces charges including perjury, defeating the ends of justice, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and discharging a firearm in a built-up area.
The State alleges that Mogotsi staged an assassination attempt on his life in Vosloorus in November 2025. Investigators claim evidence gathered during the probe raises questions about the authenticity of the alleged attack.
His bail application was previously postponed to allow authorities to verify his residential address in the North West Province. The latest court proceedings are expected to focus on new information presented by the defence in support of his release.
According to investigators, spent cartridges recovered from the alleged shooting have been linked to other criminal investigations, including a 2020 armed robbery case. The firearm allegedly used in the incident has not yet been recovered.
Mogotsi, through his legal team, has denied all allegations against him, insisting that he does not own a firearm and did not orchestrate the alleged attack. He has also maintained his innocence regarding the charges and remains confident that he will be cleared.
