The match was decided late, with Tashreeq Morris scoring in the 86th minute before Mfundo Vilakazi sealed victory in stoppage time. The result lifted Chiefs to 51 points after 28 games, confirming a third-place finish in the Betway Premiership and their best league performance since the 2019–20 season.
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef expressed satisfaction after the club secured one of its major objectives by qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday evening.
“I think we discussed many times the minimum this season is to qualify for the CAF, now one of the targets we did. We said the first thing is to play compete and play again the CAF every season and that’s the minimum for the fans, the team for one of the biggest team in South Africa and in Africa,” Youssef told SuperSport TV.
