A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old man in Upper Nqolose locality, Tsomo, following a fatal stabbing incident over the weekend.
According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday night, 20 June 2026, at about 23:00. The suspect was allegedly drinking with his girlfriend at his home when the victim, a relative of the woman, arrived. An argument reportedly broke out between the two men and escalated into violence, resulting in the victim being stabbed.
Police said the suspect allegedly pushed the injured man outside and locked the door. The following morning, the suspect and his girlfriend allegedly discovered that the victim had died and dragged his body away from the scene in what investigators believe was an attempt to conceal the crime.
The body was later discovered by passers-by, who alerted police.
A preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the 43-year-old suspect on Sunday, 21 June. He is expected to appear in the Tsomo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, facing a charge of murder. The suspect’s girlfriend was taken in for questioning as investigations continue.
Chris Hani District Commissioner, Rudolph Adolph, praised officers for their swift response and condemned the alleged actions of the suspect, describing the treatment of the deceased as inhumane.
