Former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Advocate Andrea Johnson will be summoned back before the Madlanga Commission after fresh allegations against her surfaced during proceedings on Thursday.
The development emerged while the commission was hearing evidence, with counsel informing the inquiry that new and serious allegations had been made against Johnson since her previous appearance.
Commission chairperson Acting Deputy Chief Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga ruled that Johnson must be given an opportunity to respond to the claims before the commission reaches any findings.
A formal notice will be issued requiring Johnson to return to the witness stand to answer the allegations.
Johnson previously testified before the commission as part of its investigation into allegations of corruption, interference and misconduct within law enforcement agencies. Her return to the commission is expected to focus solely on the newly raised allegations.
