A 59-year-old North West man has been remanded in custody after appearing in the Wolmaransstad Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of suspected stolen stock.
The suspect, Obusitse Abel Mokgalagadi, was arrested on Monday, 27 July 2026, during a multidisciplinary intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Stilfontein Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit (STES) and Crime Intelligence in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District.
Police acted on information about a suspect allegedly keeping stolen calves in a kraal near the old Tswelelang location. The information was operationalised, leading to the arrest of Mokgalagadi and the recovery of four calves with an estimated value of R28,000.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the calves belong to a farmer from Skietpan Farm in Wolmaransstad.
Mokgalagadi made a brief appearance in the Wolmaransstad Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 29 July, where the matter was postponed to 17 August 2026 for legal representation and a formal bail application. He remains in custody.
