The National Prosecuting Authority has welcomed the sentencing of a Gqeberha woman who raped a 13-year-old boy.
The 29-year-old Thembakazi Dyamani was sentenced to 12 years in prison by the city’s magistrate court on Monday.
According to the NPA spokesperson, Anelisa Ngcakani said the convict pleaded guilty in March, claiming to have been too drunk to dispute the allegations.
It is reported that on 4 June, the victim and his friend had accompanied Dyamani to a relative who also lives in Gqeberha.
Dyamani is not related to the boys, however, the three know each other. The boys spent the night at Dyamani’s relative
Ngcakani further said, Dyamani had intercourse with the teenager, who reported the incident later.
