Three people have been killed and another injured following a shooting in Phumleni, Lingelethu-West, Cape Town.
The incident happened at about 10.20pm on Sunday, 20 September 2026, when police responded to reports of a shooting at an informal dwelling in NB63, Phumleni.
Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel André Traut said officers found four men with gunshot wounds inside the dwelling.
“Three victims, aged between 27 and 36, were declared dead at the scene, while a 38-year-old man was taken to a medical facility for treatment,” Traut said.
Serious Violent Crime detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Forensic experts are processing the scene as investigators follow up on leads.
No arrests have been made.

Meanwhile, a separate firearm-related suspect is expected to appear in the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Public Order Police officers responded to a complaint of a person allegedly pointing a firearm in Vraagom Street on Friday, 18 September.
Police searched the premises and found a .38 Special revolver. The firearm allegedly belonged to the owner, who had failed to renew his firearm licence.
