Parliament has announced the members who will serve on the National Assembly’s Impeachment Committee following nominations submitted by political parties.
National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza confirmed that most parties met the 22 May deadline for submissions, while the ANC submitted its nominees over the weekend.
The committee includes representatives from several political parties, among them the ANC, DA, EFF, MK Party, IFP, ActionSA, FF Plus and others.
The ANC nominated 10 members, including Mrs DE Mpapane, Mr X Nqola and Mr CM Dugmore, while the DA nominated members such as Mr G Michalakis and Adv Glynnis Breytenbach. The EFF nominated Julius Malema and Ms OMC Maotwe, while the MK Party nominated Dr MJ Hlophe, Mrs SMN Mokoena-Zondi and Dr K Litchfield-Tshabalala.
Smaller parties including the ACDP, UDM, Rise Mzansi, BOSA, ATM and Al Jama-ah also submitted representatives to serve on the committee.
GOOD and the PAC indicated that they would not participate, citing that their only Members of Parliament also serve in the Executive.
