The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is ramping up efforts to tackle its road maintenance backlog through its Fill Up the Bay Pothole Repair Campaign, with work already underway in 10 of the metro’s 60 wards.
The campaign, backed by a R61 million road maintenance budget, has seen 10 service providers deployed from five depots across the metro to repair potholes and improve road conditions.
Executive Mayor Babalwa Lobishe visited Mhalokotshane Street in Dwesi on Monday, where municipal teams are carrying out repairs.
“We are quite confident that moving forward this “Fill Up the Bay” project is going to run smoothly as we have set aside R60 million to fix all potholes and to refurbish the small roads that are affected by these potholes,” said Lobishe.
