Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the youngest son of Zimbabwe’s late former president Robert Mugabe, has been arrested alongside four other men over the alleged smuggling of two luxury vehicles.
The 29-year-old was arrested in Harare on Tuesday following an operation involving the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA).
Authorities reportedly found a Lamborghini Urus and a Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 at a guest lodge, despite records indicating that both vehicles had previously exited Zimbabwe after entering under temporary import permits.
A ZACC investigator was allegedly assaulted during the operation, prompting a police investigation.
Zimbabwean police confirmed that Mugabe and four other suspects were arrested and were expected to appear in court on Thursday, 5 November.
