Police have identified a fourth suspect in the ongoing extortion investigation involving alleged taxi boss Joe ‘Ferrari’ Sibanyoni, as authorities continue probing a multi-millionrand intimidation scheme.
Investigators confirmed they have made contact with the newly identified suspect, who is believed to have worked closely with Sibanyoni and others in an alleged operation that extorted more than R2 million from a businessman over several years.
Sibanyoni and two co-accused are already before court on charges linked to extortion demands. The matter stems from a complaint lodged by a businessman who reported years of alleged intimidation and financial pressure, which is said to have resulted in repeated payments under coercion.
The South African Police Service said the investigation was triggered after the complaint was formally opened, leading to an ongoing probe into the alleged syndicate.
Police confirmed that the fourth suspect will appear alongside Sibanyoni today at the Kwaggfontein Magistrate’s Court, where the case is expected to be heard. Investigators say additional arrests have not been ruled out as evidence continues to be gathered.
