Police Open Inquest Into Death of Mrhawu Holdings MD as Finance Executive Murder Probe Continues

The death of Mrhwali Holdings Managing Director Sicelo Ntengento has added a new twist to the police investigation into the murder of the company’s finance executive, Anda “Peach” Mlondeli.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed on Thursday that an inquest docket has been opened after a 60-year-old man was found dead at Jojweni Location in Tsholomnqa.
“Police can confirm that an inquest docket has been registered for investigation following the death of a 60-year-old male at Jojweni Location in Tsholomnqa at about 14:30 on Thursday,” said police spokesperson Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa.
She said police were called to the scene, where the man was found dead.
“The circumstances surrounding the death are currently under investigation. No further details can be disclosed at this stage as the investigation is ongoing,” Mawisa added.
Ntengento’s death came hours after murder suspect Lukholo Kafile appeared in the KuGompo Magistrate’s Court in connection with the killing of 32-year-old Mlondeli, who was shot dead outside the company’s offices on 13 July.
A relative, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that Ntengento died by suicide after investigators asked him to hand over his cellphone as part of the Mlondeli murder investigation. SAPS has neither confirmed the alleged cause of death nor any link between Ntengento’s death and the murder case.
Kafile faces charges of premeditated murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and unlawful possession of a firearm. Police investigations into both matters are continuing.
