Asenathi Ntlabakanye has been handed an 18-month suspension after testing positive for a prohibited substance, the Independent Doping Hearing Panel (IDHP) confirmed.
The ruling means the Lions and Springbok prop will forfeit all individual results and benefits, including awards, bonuses and match fees, from the date the sample was collected.
The panel said the sanction applies only to Ntlabakanye’s personal achievements and does not affect team results.
The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport, World Rugby and the World Anti-Doping Agency all have 21 days to appeal the decision.
The Lions said they will continue supporting the player while considering the next steps.
