The MK Party has announced a major leadership reshuffle, appointing Duduzane Zuma as its new first deputy president.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, with the party confirming that Duduzane Zuma has replaced John Hlophe in the influential leadership position.
Despite stepping down as first deputy president, Hlophe will remain the MK Party’s parliamentary leader in the National Assembly, where he will continue to lead the party’s caucus in Parliament.
The appointment marks another significant development within the MK Party as it continues to reorganise its top leadership. Duduzane Zuma, the son of former President Jacob Zuma, has become one of the party’s most senior leaders following his elevation to the position of first deputy president.
The party said the leadership changes form part of efforts to strengthen its organisational structures and position the party for future political contests.
Tony Yengeni remains the MK Party’s second deputy president, while Jacob Zuma continues to serve as the party’s president.
