Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested five suspects aged between 20 and 44 in Umlazi following a jewellery store robbery at a shopping mall in Umhlanga on Sunday, 12 April 2026.
Authorities recovered items believed to have been stolen during the robbery, including jewellery estimated at R3 million, as well as clothing, bank cards and mobile routers.
Police said they received intelligence while processing the crime scene that the suspects were attempting to find a buyer for the stolen goods in Umlazi. Members of the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit, together with the eThekwini District Task Team, acted swiftly on the information.
The suspects were arrested in the early hours of Monday, 13 April, following a coordinated operation.
They face charges of business robbery and attempted murder and are expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
Investigations are ongoing.
