Court postpones bail application of Sgt Nkosi to 25 April

The Pretoria High Court has postponed the bail application of suspended police sergeant Fannie Nkosi bail to 25 April 2026.

Nkosi appeared in the Pretoria High Court, where he applied for bail, insisting that the charges against him are weak and politically motivated.

Nkosi told the court that the case against him is a “plot” linked to testimony he previously gave at the Madlanga Commission. “The charges against me are fabricated,” he said, adding that he is willing to surrender both his passports—one used for personal travel and the other for official work purposes—as part of his bail conditions.

The officer, who is attached to the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit, was arrested on 2 April 2026 and first appeared in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on 7 April.

Nkosi faces multiple charges, including theft, possession of unlicensed ammunition, possession of a stun grenade, and defeating the ends of justice. The charges stem from a police raid at his Pretoria North residence, where authorities allegedly seized seven firearms, state-issued ammunition, a hand grenade, and six police case dockets—some linked to serious crimes such as cash-in-transit robberies
