Four suspects are expected to appear in the Matatiele Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, in connection with the shocking murder of 39-year-old Thabeleng Sello, whose body was found with gunshot wounds in an open space at Mparane Location.
The four men, aged between 24 and 35, were arrested on Tuesday following an intensive investigation by Avondale detectives.
Police said the breakthrough came after detectives worked closely with community members and anti-stock theft structures to trace the suspects at different locations around Matatiele.
Sello’s body was discovered on 6 May 2026, sparking outrage and fear in the community.
District Commissioner of the Alfred Nzo District, Nompumelelo Majikijela, commended detectives for their dedication and commitment in solving the case.
“The South African Police Service remains committed to the fight against gender-based violence and femicide,” Maj Gen Majikijela said.
