The court has ruled in favour of Julius Malema in a defamation case against media personality Ngizwe Mchunu after Mchunu failed to convince the court why a final order should not be granted against him.
The legal battle followed statements made by Mchunu during a media appearance in which he allegedly accused Malema of receiving R60 million from Nigerian drug dealers. Malema subsequently approached the court, demanding a public apology and R1 million in damages for defamation of character.
The matter has now been finalised in Malema’s favour, unless Mchunu decides to appeal the ruling.
As part of the court order, Mchunu is expected to record and publish a video apologising to Malema. The video must reportedly be sent to King Zoso for distribution on TikTok — the same platform where the original video that sparked the dispute was widely circulated.
In addition to the public apology, Mchunu has also been ordered to pay R1 million to Malema for damaging his reputation through the allegations made against him.
