Walter Sisulu University (WSU) students are demanding the institution to allow them to consume alcohol inside the premises. WSU Spokesperson Yonela Tukwayo says the University policy does not allow alcohol on campus.
Tukwayo says other demands included that the University grant additional funds for book allowances and increase the number of students admissions for special cases.
She says past and present students are struggling to pay their debt and owe the University over a billion Rand- money that should be in their coffers to deliver quality services.
On Thursday, students barricaded the N2 near campus. Police are monitoring the situation.
