Three suspects have been arrested in connection with an arson attack on a local ward councillor’s home in Coldstream, Eastern Cape, approximately two weeks ago.
The suspects, including a woman reportedly related to the initial victim, were arrested during an intelligence-driven police operation in the early hours of Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
According to SAPS, officers intercepted a Mahindra SUV on the R102 at around 04:00. The vehicle was allegedly fitted with false number plates and a fraudulent licence disc.
A search uncovered a bottle containing suspected petrol, cloth, empty glass liquor bottles and a lighter, believed to be intended for criminal activity.
The suspects face charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of suspected stolen property. The vehicle and recovered items have been seized for further investigation.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
