An intelligence-led police operation on the R24 near Krugersdorp has led to the recovery of copper cable worth an estimated R800,000.
The operation was launched after West Rand Crime Intelligence received information about two vehicles allegedly transporting copper cable from the North West towards Krugersdorp.
Police, assisted by the West Rand Flying Squad, District Crime Prevention Unit and private security companies, intercepted the two bakkies on Tuesday.
A search of the vehicles uncovered a large quantity of copper cable.
Two Pakistani nationals were arrested and are expected to appear in court on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
Police said investigations are continuing to establish the origin of the cable and determine where it was allegedly stolen.
