Pitso Mosimane is expected to announce his final Bafana Bafana squad on Thursday, 17 September 2026, ahead of South Africa’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea, as well as an international friendly against Egypt.
The Bafana Bafana head coach previously named a 35-man preliminary squad for the three fixtures and is now set to trim the group to his final selection.
Mosimane has retained several players who represented South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, midfielder Teboho Mokoena, Relebohile Mofokeng, Themba Zwane and striker Lyle Foster.
The squad announcement will provide an indication of the players Mosimane intends to rely on as he prepares Bafana Bafana for the upcoming international assignments.
South Africa’s fixtures against Guinea, Eritrea and Egypt will give the team an opportunity to build momentum ahead of the next stage of the AFCON qualifying campaign
