South African motorists will see mixed changes at the pumps from Wednesday after the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) announced its latest monthly fuel price adjustments.
The price of both 93-octane and 95-octane petrol will decrease by 52 cents per litre, bringing the prices to R25.42 and R25.58 per litre, respectively.
Diesel prices, however, will increase sharply. 0.05% (500ppm) sulphur diesel will rise by R1.38 per litre to R26.16, while 0.005% (50ppm) sulphur diesel will increase by R1.23 per litre to R26.40.
The price of illuminating paraffin will increase by R1.52 per litre, while LP gas will decrease by R4.41 per kilogram nationwide and R5.03 per kilogram in the Western Cape.
DMRE spokesperson Robert Maake said the adjustments were influenced by international petroleum product prices and movements in the rand/US dollar exchange rate.
The 52-cent petrol price cut means motorists filling a 60-litre tank will save about R31.20, while diesel users will pay significantly more.
