Mpumalanga police have arrested a suspect wanted for attempted murder and seized several illegal firearms and ammunition in separate operations aimed at tackling violent crime.
On Sunday, 2 August 2026, Emzinoni SAPS officers arrested a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted murder case reported in July. During the arrest, police recovered a firearm, a magazine and ammunition. Preliminary investigations indicate the weapon may have been used in the commission of the crime.
In a separate operation, Balfour SAPS arrested a suspect for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Police confiscated an R5 rifle and a 9mm Norinco pistol, both with their serial numbers filed off, along with three magazines and 82 rounds of live R5 ammunition.
