Police in Kempton Park have urged women to be on high alert after four bodies were discovered in the Rhodesfield area over the past two months. The latest was found Saturday evening, with detectives noting troubling similarities: victims were half-naked, bruised, and located close together.
Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane has ordered a specialised task team, led by Major General Mbuso Khumalo, to investigate. Units from Murder and Robbery and Investigative Psychology are involved.
SAPS appealed to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation, particularly residents, motorists, security personnel and members of the community who may have observed suspicious activity in the Rhodesfield and surrounding areas, to come forward.
“SAPS is taking these incidents extremely seriously. We urge women to remain vigilant, while assuring the community that specialised police resources have been mobilised to establish the circumstances surrounding these deaths and bring those responsible to justice,” the police said.
SAPS has asked women to avoid isolated areas, not walk alone, and remain vigilant. Residents and motorists are urged to report suspicious activity.
