The African National Congress (ANC) in the OR Tambo Region has expressed profound shock and sadness following the death of a respected headman who was fatally struck by a truck while travelling to a community meeting in the KSD Sub-region.
According to the ANC, the traditional leader was on his way to attend a candidate selection meeting in Ward 19 of the Jonguhlanga Branch when the tragic incident occurred.
The party described the death as a devastating loss for the community, noting that the headman was a dedicated traditional leader whose commitment to community development and democratic processes was evident through his active participation in local affairs.
In a statement, the ANC said the tragedy had robbed Ward 19 of a respected community member and leader who played an important role in serving and guiding his people.
The ANC OR Tambo Region extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, members of the traditional leadership fraternity, and the broader Ward 19 community.
The party also conveyed its sympathies to the Jonguhlanga Branch of the ANC, wishing all those affected strength and comfort as they mourn the loss of a leader whose contribution to his community will be remembered.
