Police arrest 39-year-old-man for stealing tipper truck in Komani

A 39-year-old man is expected to appear before the Komani Magistrate’s Court on 15 April 2026 on charges of motor vehicle theft following the recovery of a suspected stolen tipper truck on the N6 highway.

The suspect was arrested by the Komani Flying Squad after members acted on information received by the Radio Control unit regarding a tipper truck allegedly stolen from a construction site in Whittlesea.

According to reports, the incident unfolded during the late evening hours of 13 April 2026 when authorities were alerted that the vehicle was travelling from Whittlesea towards Komani. Police were immediately mobilised and began tracking the truck along the N6.
Officers later spotted a vehicle matching the description and intercepted it. The driver was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his possession of the truck and was taken into custody at the scene. The vehicle was successfully recovered around midnight.

The suspect was charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and is set to make his first court appearance before the Komani Magistrate’s Court.
District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph praised the Komani Flying Squad for their swift response and effective policing, saying the rapid action ensured the suspect would face the full might of the law.
