The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has formally lodged an impeachment motion request against Cyril Ramaphosa following the release of a report by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
The report raised concerns about the conduct of two senior members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) who were involved in investigating the theft at the president’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo. The ATM argues that the findings point to a broader pattern of conduct linked to the president and has suggested that a cover-up may have been orchestrated by senior police officials.
The motion was submitted to Thoko Didiza, Speaker of the National Assembly, marking a significant political move against the president.
Parliament has confirmed receipt of the impeachment motion request, formally submitted by the ATM to the Speaker.
