Brown Mogotsi case postponed as court blocks witness details

The case against alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi has been postponed to 20 August 2026 after the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court granted a postponement for the full disclosure of the docket.

Mogotsi made a brief appearance in court on Monday, where the matter was postponed as legal proceedings continue.

The court also ruled that the names and addresses of certain State witnesses will not be disclosed, citing security concerns. The State successfully opposed a defence request for the information, arguing that one of its witnesses had previously been approached after personal details were disclosed during earlier bail proceedings.

Mogotsi faces charges of perjury, defeating the ends of justice, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is also accused of allegedly staging an assassination attempt on himself in Vosloorus.

The matter is expected to return to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on 20 August 2026, when the case will proceed following the full disclosure of the docket.
