A 29-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man are expected to appear in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, on charges of possession and dealing in drugs following the seizure of narcotics worth an estimated R3 million.
The suspects were arrested during an early morning operation conducted by members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team in the Langverwacht area of Kuils River.
Police acted on information regarding alleged drug-related activities at a bed and breakfast establishment. At approximately 04:30 on Monday, officers arrived at the identified address and found a man matching the suspect’s description along with a woman in one of the rooms.
A white VW Polo parked outside the room drew the attention of investigators after they spotted a large black bag on the back seat. The suspect was requested to unlock the vehicle, allowing officers to conduct a search.
During the search, police discovered large quantities of mandrax tablets. Further inspection revealed additional bags containing more mandrax tablets and crystal methamphetamine.
In total, officers confiscated 51 bags of mandrax tablets, five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, and R17,000 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime. The drugs have an estimated street value of R3 million.
Both suspects were arrested and charged with possession and dealing in drugs. They are expected to make their first court appearance in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
