Orlando Pirates could already be laying the groundwork for their next generation, with rising star Bohlale Ngwato emerging as a serious target amid growing uncertainty around key attackers Relebohile Mofokeng and Oswin Appollis.
The Buccaneers are believed to be keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old Siwelele talent, who has quickly gone from an unknown prospect to one of the most exciting young players in the South African top flight. With both Mofokeng and Appollis attracting interest from clubs abroad, Pirates appear to be wasting no time in planning ahead.
According to respected SABC Sports journalist Mazola Molefe, the Sea Robbers are closing in on Ngwato in what could be a bold move aimed at securing the club’s attacking future.
Ngwato’s rapid rise has been nothing short of impressive. After just five senior appearances, the Garankuwa-born youngster announced himself in style by claiming his first Man of the Match award in a goalless draw against Marumo Gallants last weekend — a performance that turned heads across the league.
“You’ll remember him from the SuperSport academy following the transition to Siwelele,” Molefe noted, highlighting the player’s development journey. “Lehlohonolo Seema gave him his top-flight debut this season.”
Molefe believes Ngwato’s standout display could be a sign of bigger things to come — not just for the player, but for Pirates as well.
“He won Man of the Match last weekend. Could it be that Orlando Pirates are building for the future? He is only 20 years old. When you win Man of the Match in a top-flight league, there is something special there,” he added.
With youth, confidence, and momentum on his side, Ngwato fits the profile of a modern Pirates signing — fearless, technically gifted, and hungry to make his mark. Whether he is ultimately brought in as a replacement for Mofokeng or Appollis remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the Buccaneers are thinking ahead.
