ON THE DEBATE ABOUT BRINGING BACK EXPERIENCED LEADERS TO LEAD MUNICIPALITIES

There is a national debate that the ANC is bringing back older people to lead municipalities and that it is a wrong approach. With respect, I think we are missing the point if we treat the position of Mayor or Municipal leadership as employment.

The position of Mayor is not a job creation opportunity. It is a call to SERVE the people.

Our people are not asking for young or old. Our people are asking for:
Clean water when they open the tap,
Grass cut and streets cleaned,
Stable electricity,
Housing and
Employment opportunities.

What our municipalities need is *political maturity, stability, and vision.*

We cannot build municipalities with factionalists who are there to fight for positions and access to the budget. We need visionaries who understand development, who can manage the municipal budget with discipline, and who have zero tolerance for corruption.

I personally support the idea of bringing back experienced, ethical leaders – not because of age, but because of their capacity to bring stability and restore service delivery. Age has never been a guarantee of failure or success – what matters is integrity, vision and commitment to serve.

Let us elect servants of the people, not job seekers.
