The Premier Soccer League title race has exploded into life after Orlando Pirates delivered a commanding 2–0 victory over Stellenbosch in Cape Town on Wednesday night, tightening the pressure on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was full of belief after the result, insisting the championship battle is far from over and could go right down to the final day of the season.
The Buccaneers produced a clinical first-half display that left their opponents chasing shadows. Evidence Makgopa struck first to set the tone, before Patrick Maswanganyi doubled the lead just moments later, sending the Pirates bench into celebration as they took full control of the contest.
With the win, Pirates move to within just two points of Sundowns, keeping their hopes of a dramatic late-season title charge alive with only three matches remaining.
Ouaddou’s men now face a decisive run-in that could define their season. Orlando Pirates’ next challenge comes on Saturday against Magesi FC, before they wrap up their PSL campaign with fixtures against Durban City FC and Orbit College FC.
