Police in the Eastern Cape have launched a manhunt for suspects following the fatal shooting of a 66-year-old woman in Willowvale.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Willowvale is appealing to the public for assistance after Nomasomi Gela was found dead at her homestead in Nkozweni Locality, Dadamba Administrative Area.
According to police, officers were called to the scene on Monday, 13 April 2026, at approximately 11:30 after receiving a complaint of a murder. Upon arrival, they discovered Gela’s body with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and police have not yet established a motive for the killing.
A manhunt has since been launched for the unknown suspect or suspects involved in the crime.
SAPS is urging anyone with information that could assist in the investigation or lead to the arrest of those responsible to come forward and contact the investigating officer at their nearest police station.
Investigations are ongoing.
