68-year-old man arrested for possession of suspected stolen livestock in Qumbu

The South African Police Service in the OR Tambo District has arrested a 68-year-old man for possession of suspected stolen livestock in Ntshongweni locality, Qumbu.

The arrest was made on Saturday, 11 April 2026, at around 23:00 following a tip-off about cattle stolen in Qolombana, Tsolo, in March being spotted in the area. Members of the Stock Theft Prevention Task Team, working alongside Qumbu Visible Policing, acted on the information.

Police, accompanied by the complainant, proceeded to the suspect’s homestead where five cattle were recovered from his kraal. The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with unlawful possession of suspected stolen livestock.

OR Tambo District Commissioner Norman Modishana commended officers for their efforts in combating stock theft and ensuring the safety of rural communities.

The suspect is expected to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 April 2026.
