The two brothers linked to the murders of rapper Kiernan Forbes and entrepreneur Tebello Motsoane have abandoned their bid for bail, marking a significant development in the high-profile double murder case.
Malusi and Siyabonga Ndimande briefly appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court on Friday, where proceedings were expected to focus on their bail application. However, the matter took a different turn when the brothers informed the court that they would no longer be pursuing bail.
The case has now been postponed to 17 April, when the Ndimande brothers are expected to be formally served with indictments. This will align their case with the other five accused in the matter, who are expected to stand trial later this year.
The brothers were extradited from Eswatini in November following a lengthy legal battle and had previously also abandoned an attempt to challenge their extradition.
Kiernan Forbes and Tebello Motsoane were fatally shot outside the now-defunct Wish restaurant in Durban in February 2023, in a case that shocked the country and drew widespread public attention.
The investigation and court proceedings remain ongoing as authorities work through multiple accused linked to the killings.
