One man has been killed and three others injured after four men were shot by unknown suspects in the Ngcobo CBD in the Eastern Cape.
The shooting took place on Monday, 21 September 2026, at about 3pm.
According to police, the four victims were having lunch at a food container when four unknown suspects allegedly entered the premises and opened fire.
A 31-year-old man sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene. The three other victims were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Police said the victims are believed to be members of the Van and Truck Association, while two of them are also reportedly members of the Ngcobo Crisis Committee.
A case of murder and three counts of attempted murder has been opened for investigation.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown and is being investigated by police.
Eastern Cape police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information that could assist in identifying the suspects to come forward.
