Residents of Seqhobong Village in Ward 13, Elundini Local Municipality, have taken part in a civic education programme aimed at improving their understanding of South Africa’s democracy and encouraging active public participation.
The programme, organised by the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature, focused on the Constitution, democratic institutions, legislative processes, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens.
According to Elundini Local Municipality, the initiative forms part of the Provincial Legislature’s constitutional mandate to promote civic education and strengthen public participation in governance.
The session also encouraged residents to play an active role in democratic processes, including exercising their right to vote, while gaining a better understanding of how government institutions function.
