South African Police Service detectives in Kabega Park are investigating cases of business robbery, murder and theft of a motor vehicle following a deadly incident at a tavern in St Albans, Gqeberha.
Police said the incident occurred on Monday night, 04 May 2026, at about 20:30 at a tavern situated along Old Cape Road in St Albans.
According to police, four armed suspects allegedly entered the establishment and robbed the business before fatally shooting the 43-year-old female owner.
When SAPS members arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying on the kitchen floor with multiple gunshot wounds to her upper chest and throat. She was declared dead at the scene.
The suspects reportedly fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, two flat-screen televisions, cellphones, a Dixon mixer, bedding, and the deceased’s silver Chevrolet Optra.
Police said the stolen vehicle has not yet been recovered, and investigations are ongoing
