Three suspects have been shot and killed by members of the South African Police Service National Intervention Unit (NIU) following an ATM bombing in Zeerust.
According to police, the suspects were tracked to a suspected safe house in Magogoe, Mahikeng, where officers cornered them. A shootout ensued between police and the suspects, resulting in all three suspects being fatally wounded.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased, and it remains unclear whether any police officers were injured during the exchange.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner is reportedly on the way to the crime scene, where further details are expected to be provided.
