Police confiscated 57,000 Mandrax tablets and 5kg of cocaine, worth an estimated R5.85 million, during an intelligence-driven operation on the N1 in Beaufort West.
The Hawks’ Organised Crime Investigations, Crime Intelligence and Beaufort West police intercepted a vehicle at about 22:40 on Thursday, 10 September 2026, and arrested the 46-year-old driver for allegedly dealing in drugs.
The suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear in the Beaufort West Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 14 September.
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi commended the officers for their efforts to curb the influx of illicit drugs into vulnerable communities.
