Kaizer Chiefs sent a strong message to their rivals after cruising to a commanding 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout, with Wandile Duba stealing the spotlight with a sensational hat-trick.
Duba delivered a clinical performance to propel Amakhosi into the quarter-finals, giving the Soweto giants a major boost as they continue their quest for silverware.
After a goalless first half, Chiefs returned with renewed determination, and Duba broke the deadlock in the 48th minute after connecting with a low cross from Pule Mmodi.
The young forward doubled Chiefs’ advantage in the 62nd minute, reacting quickly after Mfundo Vilakazi’s penalty was saved and rebounded off the post.
Duba completed his hat-trick just four minutes later, finishing calmly after being played through by Mduduzi Shabalala to seal an emphatic 3-0 win.
The performance will boost confidence in the Chiefs camp as they prepare for another major test this weekend.
Amakhosi will now turn their attention to Saturday’s highly anticipated Betway Premiership clash against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.
