The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Eastern Cape is set to launch its 2026/2027 Safer Festive Season Operation as law enforcement agencies prepare to intensify efforts to combat crime across the province.
The operation will bring together SAPS, other law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders to strengthen crime prevention, enforce the law and ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the festive season.
Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Vuyisile Ncata will outline the province’s policing strategies and present an operational plan to the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Xolile Nqatha.
Nqatha will officiate at the launch and hand over vehicles to strengthen the capacity of police stations to fight crime.
The MEC will also present certificates to community members in recognition of their contributions to crime prevention and community safety.
The operation aims to strengthen law enforcement and improve public safety across the Eastern Cape during the busy festive season.
