An aircraft has been held at King Phalo Airport in the Eastern Cape following a reported bomb threat, with all 184 passengers safely disembarking.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed that an unknown caller using a private number reported a suspected bomb on board the aircraft.
A multidisciplinary team has been deployed to the scene to assess the situation and ensure the safety of everyone involved.
The response includes the SAPS Bomb Disposal Unit, K9 explosive detection dogs, hostage negotiators, Disaster Management, airport security and Emergency Medical Services.
Police said the aircraft remains held as part of standard security procedures while investigations into the origin of the threat continue.
Authorities have urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow security agencies to carry out their duties
