The Afrika Mayibuye Movement has dismissed its first deputy president, Nolubabalo Mcinga, with immediate effect for misconduct and unauthorised political engagements, including a private meeting with MK Party leader Jacob Zuma.
Party spokesperson Sydney Baloyi announced that the decision was unanimously approved by national officials to protect the organisation’s integrity. Mcinga will retain her party membership, but she faces disciplinary action for organisational and political misconduct.
According to Baloyi, Mcinga held unsanctioned meetings with Zuma and others, misrepresented the movement, and circulated misleading information. She allegedly discussed a proposed US$500 billion investment plan without authorisation and attempted to influence members to support a separate political formation.
The party stressed that all engagements by its leaders must be approved collectively, and Mcinga’s actions were in direct violation of this rule.
But Mcinga is not taking the accusations lying down. She dismissed all the accusations as lies meant to silence him. “I am one of the co founders of Mayibuye. I will not go off easily. All the charges they are accusing me off are false. Yes, I did meet Zuma and Mary Phadi, but that’s because we all want the same thing, for the progressive movement to succeed”, she said.
Mcinga said she believes the leadership targeted her because she raised uncomfortable questions relating to transparency and direction within the movement. “This is personal attack disguised as discipline”, she said.
