879 vehicles recalled in South Africa over safety defects

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced the recall of 879 vehicles and trucks in South Africa due to safety defects affecting Audi Q3, Hyundai Santa Fe MX5 HEV and Toyota Hino 700 models.

Audi South Africa is recalling 235 Q3 vehicles over a front seat belt defect that could prevent occupants from being properly restrained.

Hyundai Automotive South Africa has recalled 162 Santa Fe MX5 HEV vehicles due to potentially misaligned front seat belt anchors, which could compromise safety.

Meanwhile, Toyota South Africa Motors is recalling 482 Hino 700 trucks after identifying potentially fractured bolts that could affect the secure mounting of critical components.

The NCC has advised owners of affected vehicles to visit their dealerships for inspection and, where necessary, replacement of defective components.

All inspections and repairs will be carried out at no cost to consumers.
