A 41-year-old serial rapist from Mlungisi has been sentenced to four life terms by the Komani Regional Court for four separate rape cases committed between 2013 and 2015.
Khaya Masiba was sentenced on 20 August 2026 after DNA evidence linked him to the cases. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The crimes involved four women aged between 41 and 56. The attacks occurred in Mlungisi and included incidents where victims were assaulted and raped in separate attacks.
Sergeant Yongama Hillary Mkabile from the Komani Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit led the investigation that resulted in Masiba’s arrest after DNA results were received in July 2019.
Eastern Cape SAPS District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph welcomed the sentence, praising Sergeant Mkabile for securing justice for the victims.
The conviction comes shortly after Mkabile secured another life sentence in a separate rape case at the Cacadu Regional Court in July 2026.
